To preface: I am in the mortgage industry and have extensive knowledge of mortgage practices on a wholesale and retail level. My credit was perfect and I never made so much as a late payment prior to this incident. Homecomings must be made accountable for their treatment and gross incompetence with savvy and co-operative consumers.
I have had homecomings for almost two years now. Homecomings made a mistake and did not pay the wind policy on my property. After sending me one of their infamous “escrow shortage” mailings I contacted the company to remedy the situation. This is when things took a very sharp turn for the worse. I was completely blown away by their incompetence. I called, faxed, and emailed proof of my insurance to Homecomings over six times to no avail. They forced placed a 6,000 wind policy, after stating I had a policy and provided them with written proof on more than one occasion. This now meant I had an escrow shortage 8,000, which was the 2000 original policy plus their forced place policy. This now adjusted my monthly payment from 2,156 to 3,455. I was furious. I called the company to speak with a manager detailing the proof I had sent in and having the situation finally remedied. After speaking with the manager nothing changed, he advised me to make the 3,455 payment. This completely astounding to me. Homecomings makes a mistake, further complicates the mistake by force placing insurance, then advises me I should be the one to pay for it. I told the manager there was no possible way of making a payment almost twice as much as my original payment and the payment must be adjusted immediately to reflect the actual payment so I would not hurt my credit rating. Homecomings made the mistake, not me, and i had done everything in my power to remedy the situation prior to force placement. Obviously, nothing was done. They requested the 3455 payment for two months before adjusting my payment down to its original point before homecomings had made the mistake. In the meantime I was continuing to still make my scheduled payment on time. Then debt collection called me stating the payments as late because they were assessed to other months. I tried to explain the mistake they had made and how it is not possible to make payments twice what they should be. They were adding penalties every month stating my payments were late. After explaining my situation to no less than ten company reps and asking for them to readjust the account not to reflect late payments, nothing was done to remedy the situation. My credit rating was superb (795) they now have hurt my credit by stating my payment are late, they think I still owe money based on their mistakes, and getting a competent rep is impossible. This can not continue to happen to others. They must be stopped from doing business. I have filed a formal complaint with the Florida attorney general.

homecomings is getting the best of me any help available please advise me, homecomings will not even return my calls any more are they still in buissness???

i encourage you to continue the fight! don't let them get away with this disgusting behavior. file a complaint also with; federal trade commissin, better business bureau, dept of fair housing and dept of justice. good luck!
